Le remplacement de l'ancienne église de la Fresnais, jugée en mauvais état et dangereuse pour les paroissiens, est envisagé dès 1886, et la décision est prise par le conseil municipal en 1889. Les premiers plans du nouvel édifice sont établis la même année par Arthur Regnault et sa construction débute en 1893 au centre du bourg, tout près de l'ancien bâtiment qui sera conservé le temps des travaux puis démoli. Le nouveau sanctuaire est béni le 14 décembre 1899. Les travaux sont achevés en 1901.

History
The replacement of the old church of La Fresnais, deemed to be in poor condition and dangerous for the parishioners, was envisaged from 1886, and the decision was taken by the municipal council in 1889. The first plans for the new building were drawn up the same year by Arthur Regnault and its construction began in 1893 in the centre of the village, very close to the old building which would be kept during the work and then demolished. The new sanctuary was blessed on 14 December 1899. The work was completed in 1901.
