Historique
L'ancien hôtel de Sévigné, attesté dès le 15e siècle et construit sur le mur d'enceinte de la ville, fut racheté en 1740 par les Hay de Nétumières, seigneurs des Rochers. La tour et les anciens logis furent alors rasés jusqu'au niveau du sol pour élever une construction neuve sur les structures anciennes. C'est un hôtel urbain classique, construit entre cour et jardin, composé d'un corps central flanqué de deux ailes en très légère saillie sur la façade nord. Son utilisation comme cercle des officiers de la garnison de 1839 à 1906, puis comme épicerie, ne lui a pas fait subir de modifications majeures. En revanche, un incendie au début du 20e siècle provoqua la modification des toitures et de la façade sur jardin. L'intérieur a conservé une partie de ses pièces boisées et son escalier en bois de style Louis XV, mais a souffert d'un bétonnage assez lourd.

History
The former Hôtel de Sévigné, attested from the 15th century and built on the city wall, was repurchased in 1740 by the Hay de Nétumières, lords of Les Rochers. The tower and the old dwellings were then razed to ground level to raise a new construction on the old structures. It is a classical urban hotel, built between courtyard and garden, composed of a central body flanked by two wings in very slight projection on the north facade. Its use as a circle for officers of the garrison from 1839 to 1906, then as a grocery store, did not subject it to major modifications. On the other hand, a fire in the early 20th century caused the modification of the roofs and of the garden facade. The interior has preserved part of its panelled rooms and its wooden staircase in the Louis XV style, but has suffered from fairly heavy concrete work.
