Historique
Il s'agit d'un des derniers grands phares de première catégorie intégré dans le programme de la fin du 19ème siècle. La décision de construction fut prise en 1899-1900. Il fut conçu par l'ingénieur Hermann-Guiche, puis réalisé par les entrepreneurs Massol et Troglia. La lanterne est montée en 1902 et le phare est allumé en 1903. Il se présente sous la forme d'une tour octogonale, légèrement pyramidale. La lanterne est décorée de mufles de lions et de feuilles d'acanthe. La coupole est en cuivre et le vitrage cylindrique est sur trois niveaux. A côté du phare, situés à l'arrière, plusieurs bâtiments abritent le logement des gardiens ainsi que les salles techniques, garages, puits, jardin, terrain, l'ensemble étant compris dans une clôture à grille sur murette.

History
This is one of the last great first-class lighthouses integrated into the programme of the late 19th century. The decision to construct it was taken in 1899-1900. It was designed by engineer Hermann-Guiche, then realized by contractors Massol and Troglia. The lantern was installed in 1902 and the lighthouse was lit in 1903. It is presented in the form of an octagonal tower, slightly pyramidal. The lantern is decorated with lion masks and acanthus leaves. The cupola is in copper and the cylindrical glazing is on three levels. Beside the lighthouse, situated to the rear, several buildings house the accommodation of the keepers as well as the technical rooms, garages, well, garden, land, the whole being comprised within a railing fence on a low wall.
