En 1924, Henry Frugès, industriel du sucre, confie à Le Corbusier et Pierre Jeanneret la réalisation de deux cités ouvrières. La première est réalisée à Lège, l'autre à Pessac, cette dernière profitant de l'expérience acquise à Lège. Les contraintes économiques liées notamment à la densité et à l'occupation de la parcelle, obligent Le Corbusier à concevoir des regroupements, en dehors de quelques cas. Aux quatre types de maisons combinées (quinconce, arcade, gratte-ciel et zig-zag) s'ajoutent des maisons isolées spécifiques et les maisons jumelles. Le chantier débute en 1925 et s'achève en 1926. Difficiles à vendre car plus chères que prévu, les maisons font l'objet d'appropriations qui défigurent le projet initial. La maison au 27 rue Xavier-Arnozan appartient au type des maisons zig-zag.

History
In 1924, Henry Frugès, sugar industrialist, entrusts to Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret the realisation of two workers' cities. The first is realised at Lège, the other at Pessac, the latter benefiting from the experience acquired at Lège.
