Historique
Une forteresse médiévale occupait le site avant l'acquisition du lieu, en 1639, par Henri du Mas, avocat au Parlement de Bordeaux. Le domaine associe alors culture de la vigne et carrières de pierre. Des bâtiments disposés en U abritent communs et logis. Dans la seconde moitié du 19e siècle, un château d'eau est érigé, le parc réaménagé, et des bâtiments vinicoles édifiés. Des projets pour la construction d'un château sont fournis entre 1874 et 1876 par l'architecte Henri Duphot, mais qui n'aboutissent pas. La transformation du château est menée par l'architecte Alphonse Blaquière, dans les années 1888. History
A medieval fortress occupied the site before its acquisition in 1639 by Henri du Mas, attorney to the Parliament of Bordeaux. The estate then combined vineyard cultivation and stone quarries. Buildings arranged in a U-shape housed outbuildings and main dwelling. In the second half of the 19th century, a water tower was erected, the park redesigned, and wine-production buildings constructed. Plans for the construction of a château were provided between 1874 and 1876 by the architect Henri Duphot, but these came to nothing. The transformation of the château was carried out by the architect Alphonse Blaquière in the years 1888. The L-shaped buildings, with colonnaded galleries and pavilions, enclose a terrace which opens to the east onto the park, and to the south onto the Dordogne and the water garden. The structure of the 18th-century gardens remains legible, marked by terraces, the belvedere and the water garden.
