Historique
Projet réalisé en 1817 par l'ingénieur Claude Descamps. L'ouvrage est achevé en 1821 pour le gros oeuvre. Le pont est constitué de 17 arches, soutenu par 16 piles reposant sur des radiers fixés dans le lit du fleuve par des pieux, et bute sur deux culées. La construction est allégée par six galeries longitudinales qui font du pont un ouvrage creux. La structure en pierre des arches est formée d'arcs reliés transversalement par des chaînes. Les abords du pont sont achevés vers 1830. Après 1950, le pont est élargi par l'ingénieur des Ponts et chaussées Renoux. En 1980, de nouveaux éclairages et des garde-corps sont dessinés par l'architecte Bertrand Nivelle.

History
Project realised in 1817 by the engineer Claude Descamps. The work is completed in 1821 for the main structure. The bridge consists of 17 arches, supported by 16 piles resting on foundations fixed in the river bed by piles, and abuts against two abutments. The construction is lightened by six longitudinal galleries which make the bridge a hollow structure. The stone structure of the arches is formed by arcs connected transversally by chains. The approaches to the bridge are completed around 1830. After 1950, the bridge is widened by the engineer of the Bridges and Highways department Renoux. In 1980, new lighting and guard rails are designed by the architect Bertrand Nivelle.
