Historique

History
This church was designed by the Salier-Courtois-Lajus-Sadirac architectural agency for the diocesan building projects of Bordeaux as part of a vast campaign to establish places of worship in the years following Vatican Council II in towns and suburban urban areas. Several preliminary designs were carried out between 1964 and 1966 for the church of Cité Carriet, built in 1960. These resulted in the choice of a building with a square plan, fitted to sloping terrain. The choice of economical materials was adapted to the limited budget. The volumes of the choir are treated in concrete, with vertical faces roughened after formwork removal and horizontal faces smoothed. The altar, ambo, benches and celebrant's seat are also in concrete. The choir is lit by a zenith slot that runs laterally across the church. The arranged forecourt (mast forming a cross, candelabra, benches) completes the design of the whole.
