Historique

History
This castle constitutes the heart of the village and is inscribed in an imposing architectural ensemble of neo-classical style, in harmony with the church located near the entrance of the castle, both rebuilt according to the plans of architect Carcenac. The castle as well as its estate became the property of an illustrious family of Toulouse parliamentarians during the decade 1770. From 1780 to 1789, the original castle entirely ruined is said to have been the subject of a reconstruction on the same site. At the beginning of the 19th century, a vast landscaped park was laid out, of which only vestiges remain. The castle composes with its outbuildings, agricultural buildings, its orangery and its ice-house, a rigorously ordered ensemble. Characteristic of country houses built at the end of the 18th century, the castle preserves its authenticity through the preservation of interior arrangements (series of small apartments on the upper floor) as well as some decorations, notably an Empire salon. However, the dwelling and the common buildings present numerous defects and suffer from poor conservation condition. While the roof structure is relatively intact, the garden façade has suffered a settlement and the deformation of the façade wall has resulted in the partial degradation of the floors as well as the attached decorations and particularly the ceiling of the monumental staircase cage.
