L'épanchoir de Laudot est un ouvrage de régulation placé au confluent de la rigole de la Plaine avec le ruisseau de Laudot ou l'Audot, qui apporte les eaux de Saint-Ferréol. Son rôle consiste à : 1 - Admettre dans la rigole les eaux de l'Audot et de Saint-Ferréol. 2 - Rejeter dans le cours inférieur de l'Audot les eaux excédentaires. 3 - Rejeter dans ce même cours les eaux troubles venant de Saint-Ferréol lors de la vidange du barrage, sans qu'elles se mélangent avec celles de la rigole, tout en maintenant l'alimentation de celle-ci par la prise du Pont-Crouzet. 4 - Barrer le cours de la rigole pour empêcher les eaux d'aller plus avant par temps de crues de l'Audot ou de la rigole de Revel. Peu souvent mentionnés, et encore plus rarement décrits ou représentés, les épanchoirs de l'Audot forment pourtant un ensemble original et intéressant à étudier. Les détails de taille des pierres sont caractéristiques du 18e siècle, et ils correspondent bien à la date de 1761 que porte une pierre de la bordure du mur au droit de la maison du garde. Ouvrage important, peu courant, d'une qualité esthétique évident, l'épanchoir du Laudot, en bon état de conservation, est un des rares ouvrages du canal à n'utiliser que la pierre en matériau de construction.
