Historique

History
The site is located at an altitude of 835 m at the southern extremity of the Lanincu valley. It is situated halfway up (20 m) limestone cliffs that have been known and explored for several decades by speleologists. In the main cavity, human bones and long wooden pieces, resembling chests, which may have been used to preserve these bones, were discovered in 2015 beneath a thick layer of droppings. Initial analyses allow these elements to be dated to the Bronze Age, which would profoundly renew knowledge of funeral rites in the island (see in particular Franck Leandri, Céline Bressy-Leandri, Philippe Galant, Patrice Courtaud and Ana Ferraz, « Lano Cavité sépulcrale de Laninca », ADLFI. Archéologie de la France - Informations, Corse, avril 2017, http://adlfi.revues.org/18789).
