A Centuri, commune d'où partaient un grand nombre d'habitants pour Porto Rico, se trouvent onze maisons dites d'Américains. Cette maison est caractéristique d'une architecture ostentatoire et décorative. Elevée sur deux niveaux et un étage de combles au-dessus d'une corniche très saillante, couverte d'un toit en lauzes surmonté d'une petite terrasse en belvédère, la maison possède trois façades ordonnancées à travées que couronne une balustrade pleine masquant une partie de la toiture et renforçant le caractère toscan néo-classique de l'ensemble. La façade principale possède un porche d'entrée surmonté d'un balcon à balustrade, décoré de deux aigles impériaux qui attestent des accointances bonapartistes des propriétaires. Le plan est original par rapport au modèle carré ou rectangulaire des maisons dites d'Américains en ce qu'il possède contre le corps principal, rectangulaire, une aile arrière allongée comprenant l'ensemble des anciennes cuisines et l'actuelle grande salle à manger de part et d'autre d'un petit patio carré. L'ensemble est distribué par un escalier monumental à trois volées droites et possède des décors peints plafonnants et muraux du peintre Paul-Baptiste Profizzi. L'allégorie de l'Amérique est peinte au centre du plafond du grand salon.

History
At Centuri, a commune from which a large number of inhabitants left for Puerto Rico, there are eleven houses known as American houses. This house is characteristic of an ostentatious and decorative architecture. Raised on two storeys and an attic storey above a very projecting cornice, covered with a roof of slates topped with a small belvedere terrace, the house has three regularly-composed facades with bays crowned by a full balustrade masking part of the roof and reinforcing the neo-classical Tuscan character of the whole. The main facade has an entrance porch surmounted by a balcony with balustrade, decorated with two imperial eagles which attest to the Bonapartist connections of the owners. The plan is original in relation to the square or rectangular model of the so-called American houses in that it has against the main rectangular body, an elongated rear wing comprising all the former kitchens and the present large dining room on either side of a small square patio. The whole is distributed by a monumental staircase with three straight flights and has painted ceiling and wall decorations by painter Paul-Baptiste Profizzi. An allegory of America is painted at the centre of the ceiling of the large drawing room.
