History
The tower is part of the Genoese defensive system set up in the late 16th and early 17th century. It appears from 1573 in the list of towers to be built, but was only constructed from 1582. The work was completed in 1584. The structure corresponds to the typology of Genoese towers, although being one of the rare square towers: a stone building erected on three levels, including a terrace flanked by a guardiola.
