Historique

History
This lighthouse, put into service in March 1874, is built of dressed granite stone resting on a base of concrete and stone arranged as a landing place. The tower of Four, like that of Pierres Noires, is the first, among sea lighthouses, to free itself from the very curved form called 'trumpet-shaped' that was in use until then. The overall mass of the construction ensuring the stability of the building was then prioritised. The interior distribution is organised over five storeys each corresponding to a room, linked by a spiral staircase. The lantern is original and the optics retains its old device with petroleum vapours. The lighthouse has been automated since 1993.
