Historique

History
The construction of the primitive manor, according to an L-shaped plan, may date back to the 15th century. First enlargement in the 17th century, then transformation into a farm. The East wing becomes a stable. In the 1850s, restoration work, the whole is transformed into a castle, of irregular plan arranged in a U around a central courtyard. The transformation would have been entrusted to the architect Bernier. The different building bodies, with towers and pavilions, maintain unity through architectural ornamentation inspired by the 15th century. The distribution and interior décor date from this remodelling, with reuse of elements (carved wooden panels, polychrome carved panels from the 17th century). The outbuildings are organized around a vast courtyard. North of the castle, the terraced gardens follow an axial composition based on a first pleasure garden and its central basin. The first terrace contains the kitchen garden, the second the orchard. The landscaped park retains the layout of former approach avenues to the castle. This castle is a fine example of homogeneous restoration carried out in the 1880s, in the neo-Gothic style.
