Historique

History
In ruins from 1468, the logis of Kerscao was rebuilt for the family of Kerguiziau de Kerscao in two campaigns, the first around 1520-1530 (kitchen, staircase tower, north-east pavilion), the second around 1590-1600, which corresponds to an extension towards the east, by Claude de Kerguiziau. The architecture of Kerscao is remarkable for several elements: the quality of workmanship of materials (polychromy), the perfection of the defensive system (gun ports), the glazed terracotta tiles, the workmanship of the staircase. The manor was modified during its use as a farm, but has been under restoration since 1977. It possesses a double enclosure. The larger one encloses the space of the former gardens, that is approximately two hectares, and has retained almost the entire length of its walls; it comprises the main dwelling, at the south-east corner, a ruined tower at the north-east corner, the chapel to the south (1590) and the dovecote. The smaller enclosure corresponds to the courtyard, closed to the north by the main dwelling, to the east and west by outbuildings and to the south by a wall pierced by a double gateway. A square tower occupies the south-west corner of the courtyard, which also comprises a well.
