Fruit de la collaboration de l'architecte Jean Rédreau et de l'ingénieur Stéphane du Château, l'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, construite dans le quartier neuf de Rechèvres à Chartres, présente un plan original, reflet d'une conception claire et renouvelée de la liturgie, une coupole qui retient l'attention pour l'utilisation du procédé tridirectionnel SDC (breveté par Stéphane du Chateau) , et une conception d'ensemble aboutie (dessin des portes, du mobilier). Edifiée de 1959 à 1962, elle incarne à la perfection les souhaits du clergé commanditaire de disposer d'un édifice simple et d'une mise en oeuvre relativement peu coûteuse. Fruit of the collaboration of architect Jean Rédreau and engineer Stéphane du Château, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, built in the new quarter of Rechèvres in Chartres, presents an original plan, reflecting a clear and renewed conception of the liturgy, a dome which draws attention for the use of the tridirectional SDC process (patented by Stéphane du Château), and a fully realized overall design (design of doors, of furnishings). Built from 1959 to 1962, it embodies perfectly the wishes of the clergy who commissioned it to have a simple building and relatively inexpensive execution.
