Historique
Afin de sécuriser la navigation dans l'estuaire de la Seine, sont mis en place plusieurs plans d'éclairage, l'un en 1837 et l'autre à partir de 1847. Ce dernier prévoit la construction de quatre phares dont un à Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque, sur le plan-type de maison-phare. Initié par l'architecte Léonce Reynaud, ce type de phare de terre intègre la partie technique (lanterne et accès) à une habitation qui permet de maintenir sur place le gardien et sa famille. L'édifice, construit en 1849 et mis en service en 1850, a vu ses intérieurs dégradés mais l'escalier, la lanterne et son bâti en laiton sont en place, l'optique ayant été démonté sans doute dès la fin de son service en 1910.

History
In order to secure navigation in the estuary of the Seine, several lighting schemes were put in place, one in 1837 and another from 1847. The latter provided for the construction of four lighthouses, one at Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque, on the plan-type of lightkeeper's house. Initiated by the architect Léonce Reynaud, this type of onshore lighthouse integrates the technical part (lantern and access) into a dwelling which allows the keeper and his family to be maintained on site. The building, constructed in 1849 and put into service in 1850, has seen its interiors degraded but the staircase, the lantern and its brass frame are in place, the optics having been removed probably from the end of its service in 1910.
