History
In 1871, the castle of neo-classical style, built in the middle of the 18th century, was burned during the fighting of the Siege of Paris. In 1876, it was restored by architect Lambert. In 1884, the Duke Pozzo di Borgo acquired the domain of Dangu (Eure) which comprised ancient fortified sections and a medieval building called the "old castle". From 1896 to 1899, he had his castle of Montretout transferred to this domain. Architect Dauvergne reassembled and modified the original construction, henceforth called the "New Castle", raising the roof space and adding a storey to the wings. Landscape architect Achille Duchêne modified the park by creating alignments in relation to the new construction.
