La demande de protection émane de l'association Patrimoine Castelneuvois, association qui s'engage depuis plusieurs années sur l'entretien et la sauvegarde du prieuré. Le couvent est constitué d'un ancien cloître autour duquel s'organisent trois bâtiments conventuels à l'ouest, au nord et à l'est, l'église refermant au sud ce quadrilatère. Des éléments annexes viennent compléter cet ensemble : deux puits, les vestiges de l'ancien mur de clôture et un petit bassin. L'église est orientée à l'est et se compose d'une nef unique, d'un choeur carré fermé par un chevet à trois pans coupés. Le choeur est orné de décors provenant au moins de deux campagnes distinctes, 17e et 18e siècles.

History

The choir is decorated with ornaments from at least two distinct periods, 17th and 18th centuries.
