Des découvertes archéologiques permettent de supposer que le site a été habité dès l'époque romaine. Les bâtiments occupent un plan en U avec une aile ouest prolongée de communs, une enceinte, une tour à l'angle sud-ouest, et une aile est. Cette dernière a été bâtie sur des vestiges plus anciens, conservant un escalier médiéval, des ouvertures gothiques et un appareil en arêtes de poisson. Selon la tradition, Diane de Poitiers serait venue dans ce château. History
Archaeological discoveries make it possible to suppose that the site has been inhabited since the Roman period. The buildings occupy a U-shaped plan with a west wing extended by outbuildings, an enclosure, a tower at the south-west angle, and an east wing. The latter was built on older vestiges, preserving a medieval staircase, Gothic openings and herringbone ashlar. According to tradition, Diane de Poitiers is said to have visited this castle. The three interlaced crescents of Diane de Poitiers, as well as the initials H and D are found on the paintings of the vault of the monumental staircase, the ground floor and the fireplaces on the upper floor. In 1792, the castle was pillaged. In 1931, the property was parcelled and sold. At that time, the castle was restored. Pierre Palué was called upon to renovate the mythological paintings of the 17th century. The stained glass windows are signed J. Adam and R-G Gautier.
