A Besançon, la culture de la vigne a eu une grande importance dès le Moyen Age. History
At Besançon, vine cultivation had great importance from the Middle Ages. It invested the slopes of the hills where survive retaining walls and a few dry stone cabins, the cabordes. These latter appear on the 1834 cadastral plan. The caborde which survives on the south-east slope of the Planoise hill is of circular plan, as is generally the case, but it integrates the retaining wall of a vineyard in its front face. It is partly buried in the upper parcel. It is covered with a dome of stone voussoirs in the form of a bell tower overhanging the wall. Inside, the wall curves from ground level.
