Historique
Gustave Courbet avait un atelier à Ornans, dans un grenier. Il l'agrandit, puis décida vers 1858 d'établir un atelier plus spacieux à l'entrée ouest de la ville, et de l'accompagner d'un parc allant jusqu'à la Loue. Il fit appel à l'architecte Léon-Marie Isabey qui aménagea un local industriel préexistant et créa une habitation complémentaire en forme de chalet. C'est un bâtiment rectangulaire qui se présente au fond d'une petite cour par son pignon. Le côté gauche conserve les baies d'origine. L'atelier comporte deux salles au sol carrelé, au plafond orné d'oiseaux peints attribués à Courbet. La baie qui relie les deux salles conserve le tympan métallique aux initiales du peintre. La salle antérieure s'orne de deux paysages peints sur la voussure du plafond. Au 20e siècle, le domaine a été démantelé, le chalet a été démoli.

History
Gustave Courbet had a studio in Ornans, in a loft. He enlarged it, then decided around 1858 to establish a more spacious studio at the western entrance to the town, and to accompany it with a park extending to the Loue. He called upon architect Léon-Marie Isabey who arranged a pre-existing industrial building and created a complementary dwelling in the form of a chalet. It is a rectangular building which presents itself at the far end of a small courtyard by its gable. The left side retains the original openings. The studio comprises two rooms with tiled floors, the ceiling adorned with painted birds attributed to Courbet. The opening connecting the two rooms retains the metal tympanum with the painter's initials. The front room is decorated with two landscapes painted on the ceiling vault. In the 20th century, the estate was dismantled, the chalet was demolished.
