Historique
Description

History
This church was built between 1840 and 1843 according to the plans of the architect Bertrand Le Pescheur, on a new location near the Trieux, and symbolises the creation in 1801 of the parish of Pontrieux, resulting from the union of two former chapelries. Its neoclassical style, characteristic of the period, is expressed both in its overall plan and in its external and internal decorative features. This coherent and homogeneous building was completed in the 20th century by two works that integrate very well with the initial architecture, namely a triptych painted in the choir by Simone Pillet (1934) and a complete set of stained-glass windows by Job Guével (1946). The church also houses a fine collection of protected moveable objects, first and foremost an organ by Jean-Baptiste Claus (1878).
Description
The church possesses a façade entirely faced in blocks of grey granite ashlar, this façade adopts a ternary arrangement corresponding to the interior divisions of the nave, with central section flanked by Doric pilasters and surmounted by a pediment, in which opens a straight door with an impost topped by a drip moulding, and symmetrical lateral sections with large round arch windows, entablature and attic. It was originally preceded by a small enclosure including the entire front half of the church, formed of a dwarf wall topped by a railing, now disappeared.
