Le bâtiment, inauguré en 1909, fut agrandi et réceptionné en 1932. L'immeuble est bâti sur un quadrilatère et selon un plan en grille, à cinq corps entourant deux cours. Il comprend deux parties, une datant de 1909, avec un bâtiment d'angle, et une seconde, construite en 1932. Le rez-de-chaussée du corps principal est occupé par une salle dite du public, dont les quatre travées sont couvertes par un plafond à caissons et entablements. La façade principale, de style néo-Louis XVI, est agrémentée de sculptures et de mosaïques. Le bâtiment d'angle est surmonté d'un campanile tandis que celui situé au nord est desservi par un hall et un escalier monumental. Le local de la chaufferie conserve le puits de l'ancien château fortifié de Dijon.

History
