Ce fort appartient à un ensemble de fortifications établies autour de Dijon après la guerre de 1877, et s'intègre dans le système de défense des frontières de l'Est, dû au général Séré de Rivières. La construction s'étend de 1877 à 1880. De plan polygonal, le fort est entouré de fossés profonds. Des parapets flanqués de caponnières protègent les casernements, la poudrière, et les ateliers. De 1940 à 1944, le fort renferme prisonniers politiques et résistants, puis des prisonniers allemands. Ces derniers ont transformé une casemate en chapelle, l'ornant de peintures murales.

History
This fort belongs to a set of fortifications established around Dijon after the 1877 war, and integrates into the defence system of the Eastern frontier, due to General Séré de Rivières. Construction extends from 1877 to 1880. Of polygonal plan, the fort is surrounded by deep ditches. Parapets flanked by casemates protect the barracks, the powder magazine, and the workshops. From 1940 to 1944, the fort housed political prisoners and resistors, then German prisoners. The latter transformed a casemate into a chapel, decorating it with murals.
