Les écluses à poissons sont des établissements de pêche traditionnelle, de forme arrondie ou carrée, construits en pierre sèche, permettant de conserver durant toute la basse mer une hauteur d'eau suffisante pour préserver le frai. Le site des Sables-Vignier comporte un ensemble de cinq murs d'écluses se présentant en coupe comme un demi-cercle dissymétrique. Avec un côté intérieur vertical et un côté extérieur taluté, l'enceinte est percée de bouchots munis de grilles permettant l'écoulement de l'eau. Des aménagements sont réalisés dans l'écluse. Ainsi, des coursives sont utilisées comme zones de pêche, des murets délimitent ces zones appelées « foue » et des sortes de monticules de pierres renfermant du sable et des algues et nommés « tas d'attirance », permettent le développement des arénicoles. History
Fish locks are traditional fishing establishments, of rounded or square form, constructed in dry stone, allowing a sufficient water level to be maintained throughout the low tide period to preserve spawn.
