Historique
Le nouvel hôtel de ville est édifié par l'architecte Raymond David pratiquement sur le même emplacement que le précédent. Cette construction dénote une volonté marquée d'opter pour une architecture résolument moderne, mettant ainsi un terme au classicisme régional caractérisant les deux précédents hôtels de ville. L'avancement des travaux rencontre nombre de vicissitudes et la réception provisoire n'aura lieu que le 3 décembre 1955. L'inauguration officielle s'effectuera les 21 et 22 juillet 1956 mais la réception définitive des travaux ne sera opéré que le 2 décembre 1958. Le sculpteur parisien René Babin est l'auteur du bas-relief qui orne la façade de l'hôtel de ville, sur le porte-à-faux de la salle du conseil municipal. La réception de cette création a lieu le 5 février 1960. L'édifice est alors considéré comme achevé.

History
The new town hall is built by architect Raymond David on practically the same site as its predecessor. This construction denotes a marked determination to opt for resolutely modern architecture, thereby putting an end to the regional classicism characteristic of the two previous town halls. The progress of the works encountered numerous setbacks and provisional completion only took place on 3 December 1955. Official inauguration took place on 21 and 22 July 1956 but definitive completion of the works was only made on 2 December 1958. Parisian sculptor René Babin is the author of the bas-relief that adorns the façade of the town hall, on the cantilever of the municipal council chamber. Reception of this work took place on 5 February 1960. The building was then considered complete.
