Historique
Le lycée Louis Liard fut construit à la suite de la destruction, en juin 1944, de l'ancien collège, implanté depuis le début du 19ème siècle dans l'enceinte du château. Un nouveau site est choisi dans le quartier périphérique «Saint-Jean». L'internat des garçons sera édifié sur une parcelle au sud du lycée, le terrain n'offrant pas assez de place pour l'intégrer en même temps que celui réservé aux filles. Le projet immobilier est confié aux architectes Rême et Dureuil. La construction repose sur un plan courbe et se compose d'une part d'une élévation antérieure, avec une partie centrale à deux étages ainsi que des parties latérales à un étage, un grand auvent servant d'élément de cohésion à l'ensemble ; d'autre part, d'une élévation postérieure abritant le corps central du lycée qui se distingue par ses toitures de différents niveaux.

History
The Lycée Louis Liard was built following the destruction, in June 1944, of the former college, located since the early 19th century within the castle grounds. A new site is chosen in the outlying "Saint-Jean" district. The boys' boarding house will be built on a parcel to the south of the lycée, the land not offering enough space to integrate it at the same time as that reserved for girls. The property project is entrusted to architects Rême and Dureuil. The construction is based on a curved plan and is composed on one hand of an anterior elevation, with a central part of two storeys as well as lateral parts of one storey, a large canopy serving as an element of cohesion to the whole; on the other hand, of a posterior elevation housing the central body of the lycée which is distinguished by its roofs at different levels.
