C'est à la famille Le Révérend, noblesse protestante, que l'on doit l'élévation de l'ancienne seigneurie de Bougy en marquisat au 17e siècle, au début du règne de Louis XIV. De l'historique des constructions du château de Bougy, le silence est trop présent. Si certains communs, de par leur style, pourraient remonter à l'époque des Le Révérend, le château fut rebâti au siècle suivant par la famille Hue de Carpiquet (blasons sur le fronton du château en élévation principale) sur les bases du château 17e siècle en conservant l'assiette d'origine avec les douves et la cour d'honneur. Des adjonctions diverses affectèrent l'édifice au cours du siècle suivant, dont le pavillon carré au nord-est et le pavillon étroit au sud-ouest. Le parc du château remonte au 18e siècle et présente diverses parties fort variées dans leur esprit ; une grande allée centrale d'accès est précédée d'une avenue à l'origine longue de 2 km et aujourd'hui rétrécie à 700 m. De chaque côté de l'allée d'accès sont implantés les divers bâtiments nécessaires à l'exploitation du domaine. Cette partie terminale du parc est la plus romantique et offre un contraste avec les alignements plus classiques du parterre d'accès et du jardin d'agrément. Le parc, dans sa partie occidentale, est entouré de part et d'autre par des futaies formant écrin paysager. Le domaine de Bougy est fortement marqué par son parc.
