Historique
Lhôtel de Donine comprend un seul corps de logis, aligné sur rue. Sa façade postérieure donnait sur une cour intérieure, aujourdhui supprimée. Le rez-de-chaussée sur rue a été reconstruit au XIXe siècle, mais le reste de la façade offre un des plus beaux exemples de décor darchitecture de la Renaissance arlésienne : ordres superposés, pilastres cannelés, entablements sculptés. Le premier étage sorne notamment de deux frises superposées, qui imitent avec exactitude lentablement du théâtre antique, situé à proximité. Une copie aussi précise révèle le travail dun sculpteur qualifié, dont le nom nest cependant pas connu. Au premier étage également est conservé un plafond peint à la française, daté probablement du 2e quart du 17e siècle, comme celui de lhôtel Boussicaud. Les motifs, à dominante rouge-brun, sont variés : candélabres feuillagés, bouquets ou paniers de fleurs, paysages en grisaille dans des cartouches ornés.

History
The hôtel de Donine comprises a single main dwelling, aligned on the street. Its rear façade gave onto an interior courtyard, now removed. The ground floor on the street was reconstructed in the 19th century, but the rest of the façade offers one of the finest examples of the decorative architecture of the Arlesian Renaissance: superimposed orders, fluted pilasters, sculptured entablatures. The first floor is notably adorned with two superimposed friezes, which imitate with precision the entablature of the ancient theatre, situated nearby. Such a precise copy reveals the work of a qualified sculptor, whose name is nevertheless not known. On the first floor is also preserved a ceiling painted in the French manner, probably dated to the second quarter of the 17th century, as is that of the hôtel Boussicaud. The motifs, predominantly reddish-brown in tone, are varied: leafed candelabras, bouquets or baskets of flowers, landscapes in grisaille within decorated cartouches.
