Le phare fut édifié de 1889 à 1892. En 1922 et 1923, il est équipé d'une optique catadioptrique et d'une lanterne en tôle cintrée, toujours visibles actuellement. Les dégradations causées lors de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale ont nécessité la reconstruction de l'escalier en vis en pierre, la consolidation de la tour ainsi que la restauration de son lambrissage intérieur. Le phare est électrifié en 1972 et automatisé en 1999. En 2004, le dernier gardien quitte Faraman avec pour conséquence, la dégradation de l'ensemble des bâtiments de gardiens.

History
The lighthouse was built from 1889 to 1892. In 1922 and 1923, it was equipped with a catadioptric optics and a bent sheet metal lantern, still visible today.
