History
In the middle of the 12th century, creation ex-nihilo by the Templars of a church and a castle (the Templars are recognised as sole lords of the Larzac, the largest of the Grands Causses, in 1187 and collect toll rights). At the beginning of the 14th century, the Templars are replaced by the Hospitallers of Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem. At the beginning of the 15th century, general insecurity led the inhabitants of La Cavalerie to request the right to build a rampart.
