Sa conception de la « maison abri » ou maison patio est adaptée au climat méditerranéen et au mode de vie de loisir : le plan tient compte dun mode dexistence estival résolument orienté vers lextérieur. Le village, créé en 1968, est composé de bungalows, de petits collectifs et dun important équipement de services en bordure de plage. Lensemble est construit en béton, sous forme de cubes carrés assemblés, couverts de toits en terrasse.

The VVF 'Les Carrats' is a work by Georges Candilis, the architect of social housing par excellence.
