Historique
Abbaye bénédictine fondée en 837 de part et d'autre de la Barse. Le 12e siècle est une grande période de donations et de développement (9 des 14 prieurés possédés par l'abbaye sont mentionnés). L'église est achevée en 1240, et une muraille enclot l'abbaye avant la fin du 13e siècle. Occupée pendant la guerre de Cent ans, et mise en commende en 1501. En 1655, l'abbaye est affiliée à la congrégation bénédictine de Saint-Vanne. En 1669, reconstruction de l'aile sud du cloître (actuel bâtiment en briques et pierres). Reconstruction du logis abbatial à partir de 1715 (premier bâtiment du 16e siècle) , complété par un pigeonnier et une grange. Edifice de plan rectangulaire élevé sur deux niveaux. L'avant-corps comprend un fronton orné d'un bovin peint sur un enduit, rappelant la profession du propriétaire à la fin du 19e siècle (marchand de bestiaux). Les dispositions actuelles du logis conservent largement celles du 18e siècle.

History
Benedictine abbey founded in 837 on either side of the Barse. The 12th century is a great period of donations and development (9 of the 14 priories possessed by the abbey are mentioned). The church was completed in 1240, and a wall enclosed the abbey before the end of the 13th century. Occupied during the Hundred Years War, and placed in commendation in 1501. In 1655, the abbey was affiliated to the Benedictine congregation of Saint-Vanne. In 1669, reconstruction of the south wing of the cloister (present building in brick and stone). Reconstruction of the abbatial dwelling from 1715 onwards (original 16th-century building), completed by a dovecote and a barn. Building of rectangular plan raised on two levels. The avant-corps comprises a pediment decorated with a painted bovine on render, recalling the profession of the owner at the end of the 19th century (cattle merchant). The present arrangements of the dwelling preserve to a large extent those of the 18th century.
