Historique
L'église de Stonne, reconstruite entre 1958 et 1960, propose un volume simple, un plan rectangulaire ainsi que des murs en béton et moellons formant extérieurement un appareillage rustique traditionnel. Si l'extérieur de l'édifice ne présente pas d'ornementation remarquable, le décor intérieur suscite l'intérêt. Aux vitraux signés Savary s'ajoute une grande peinture murale occupant le mur Est du chœur, réalisée par l'artiste plasticien Maurice Kalka, en 1959. L'œuvre se distingue par la simplicité des moyens employés : de la peinture blanche et rouge et une décoration graphique originale, à l'époque, puisque réalisée au crayon feutre. La peinture illustrant le thème du « triomphe de la Vierge » est aussi bien l'expression d'un courant minimaliste dans ses moyens et privilégiant un graphisme géométrique qu'une œuvre représentative du mouvement de création architecturale et artistique dans les églises de France, dans la seconde moitié du 20e siècle.

History
The church of Stonne, rebuilt between 1958 and 1960, offers a simple volume, a rectangular plan as well as walls in concrete and rubble stone forming externally a traditional rustic ashlar pattern. If the exterior of the building does not present remarkable ornamentation, the interior decoration arouses interest. To the stained glass windows signed Savary is added a large mural painting occupying the East wall of the choir, executed by the artist Maurice Kalka, in 1959. The work is distinguished by the simplicity of the means employed: white and red paint and original graphic decoration, at the time, since executed in felt-tip pen. The painting illustrating the theme of the "triumph of the Virgin" is both the expression of a minimalist current in its means and privileging geometric graphics as a work representative of the movement of architectural and artistic creation in the churches of France, in the second half of the 20th century.
