The fortification of the castrum of Saint-Thomé is mentioned as early as 1374. In the 17th century, the castle was dismantled by royal troops, in response to the alliance between Claude de Hautefort de Lestrange and Montmorency, ally of Gaston d'Orléans, the king's rebellious brother, the seigneury being enfeoffed to the De Vesc, allies and relatives of Lestrange. Restoration works were undertaken in the 17th century, followed, at the end of the 18th, by complete interior reorganization of which the first-floor salon has preserved the wallpapers executed in distemper, and the bedrooms the stuccoed decorations. The building presents a rectangular plan, flanked by two towers to the east and an extension to the west. The three levels are served by an interior staircase with right return turn. The staircase serves a vestibule with groin vault. The ground floor preserves medieval remains (cellar, fireplace in the East salon). This tripartite plan with staircase ramp on ramp in central bay readable on the façade, gives indications of the evolution of the dwelling plan in the 16th century. The castle suffered damage following the earthquake of 11/11/2019.
