Description
Devenue suffisamment nombreuse pour disposer de son propre lieu de culte, la communauté américaine de Nice obtint la création d'une paroisse épiscopalienne en 1873, qui prit le nom de Holy Spririt Church. En 1885, elle fit l'acquisition d'un terrain dans le quartier anglais de la Croix de Marbre. En 1886-1888, W.G. Abershon, architecte londonien réputé notamment pour ses constructions d'églises néo-gothiques, y élevait une église et un presbytère. Description
Having become numerous enough to have its own place of worship, the American community of Nice obtained the creation of an Episcopal parish in 1873, which took the name of Holy Spirit Church. In 1885, it acquired a plot of land in the English district of Croix de Marbre. In 1886-1888, W.G. Abershon, a renowned London architect particularly known for his neo-gothic church constructions, raised a church and presbytery there. A set of stained glass windows was offered by wealthy parishioners, commissioned from the London firm Clayton and Bell. Passed to the Protestant Church of Nice in 1974, the ensemble, particularly well preserved, continues to offer, in the heart of the winter resort, an unchanged English landscape sequence since the end of the 19th century.
