Historique
Le monument aux morts de la guerre de 1914-1918 de la vallée de l'Ubaye est situé à Barcelonnette et fut réalisé en 1922 par le sculpteur Paul Landowski et inauguré le 19 août 1923. Ce projet eut pour point de départ la volonté de regrouper sur un seul monument tous les enfants de la vallée, y compris de l'arrondissement. L'uvre, précédée d'un square de forme triangulaire, est érigée sur un podium rendu accessible par d'imposantes marches. L'ensemble se détache d'un décor naturel constitué par les cimes des montagnes. Le monument est élaboré tel un mur de scène sur lequel se dressent deux poilus sculptés de manière réaliste et revêtus des costumes de fantassin et de chasseur alpin. Le groupe ainsi représenté semble se démarquer d'un mur en exèdre au milieu d'un couvert végétal.

History
The war memorial for the 1914-1918 war of the Ubaye valley is located in Barcelonnette and was created in 1922 by the sculptor Paul Landowski and inaugurated on 19 August 1923.
