La source salée de Tartonne, concédée par la reine Jeanne à la commune de Tartonne en 1402, a été une ressource précieuse pour les habitants de cette commune. Le puits est implanté en rive droite, à quelques mètres au nord du lit du torrent du Salou. Il est abrité par une petite construction en moellons en partie détruite. La voûte, maçonnée à la chaux est encore en bon état. Le puits, de section carrée, est formé d'un coffrage de bois très dur. L'eau salée provient d'un lessivage de roches évaporitées, mais son mélange à une autre nappe d'eau douce en fait une eau moins salée que celle de Moriez.

History
The saltwater spring of Tartonne, granted by Queen Jeanne to the commune of Tartonne in 1402, was a precious resource for the inhabitants of this commune. The well is located on the right bank, a few metres north of the bed of the Salou torrent. It is sheltered by a small construction in rubble stone partly destroyed. The vault, mortared in lime, is still in good condition. The well, of square section, is formed by a very hard timber frame. The saltwater originates from the leaching of evaporite rocks, but its mixing with another layer of fresh water makes it less salty than that of Moriez.
