Of eclectic style, the town hall was built by architect Joseph Chérier between 1882 and 1884. After the First World War, the building was restored between 1922 and 1926 by architect Gustave Malgras who replaced the Flemish belfry with a simple campanile. In 1925, Emile Flamant was engaged to decorate the wedding and municipal council hall. The painted fresco represents a magnified image of the city, after the war, at a time when the textile industry was flourishing.
