History
Example of the vast dwellings which the notables of Guise had erected from the second half of the 17th century in the Grand Faubourg, a quarter laid out outside the first enclosure of the town. The property, constituted from the 18th century, still comprises the mansion with its wing of outbuildings in a right angle, as well as an adjoining house and the carriage gate detached from the neighbouring mansion. The wooden baluster staircase dates from the construction of the mansion as do certain doors and door frames. A cabinet and a bedroom have retained their complete wall decoration, as has the reception room, in rocaille style, whose overdoors are copies of two pastorals by François Boucher. The decorative ensembles reflect the way in which fashions and Parisian taste were able to be adapted in various periods in the dwelling of a provincial notable.
