Confié à David dAngers, il représente Xavier Bichat, médecin qui passa son enfance dans lAin et commença ses études à lhôpital de Bourg-en-Bresse. Inauguré le 24 août 1843 place Grenette, le monument fut déplacé en 1870 à lextrémité de la place du bastion.

History
Envisioned from 1822, the monument is financed by the society for emulation of the Ain from a national subscription. Entrusted to David d'Angers, it represents Xavier Bichat, physician who spent his childhood in the Ain and began his studies at the hospital of Bourg-en-Bresse. Inaugurated on 24 August 1843 on place Grenette, the monument was moved in 1870 to the extremity of place du bastion.
