The site presents vestiges of fortifications which succeed one another from the 11th to the 19th century. The former castle of the lords of Loyes (ruins of the castle of the Pie), the modern castle, the formal garden and the vegetable garden are visible. In the 18th century, major works are carried out on the castle of Loyes, but a fire destroys the top of the towers and the roof. In 1840, renovation works are undertaken, as is the construction of outbuildings, a wood-cellar store and stables. At the end of the 19th century, a church is built, dividing the castle mound in two. The entrance to the castle was modified at the end of the 19th century, at the same time as the neo-gothic wall. The garden, elaborated at the beginning of the 18th century, is modernised by Luizet and Barret at the end of the 19th century; a landscape garden is added to the formal garden. The castle mound becomes accessible by a path. Inside, a ramp-on-ramp staircase of the 17th century is ornamented with the arms of the different owners, painted in the 19th century.
