En 1747, l'ancienne église étant devenue trop petite, la construction d'un nouvel édifice est confiée aux Jésuites et aux catholiques de la ville qui réaffirment ainsi leur suprématie sur les protestants. La construction est menée par l'architecte Le Jolivet. La bénédiction est prononcée en 1755. La façade monumentale fait référence à l'église du Gésu de Rome. Le plan en croix latine comporte une large nef de trois travées voûtées d'ogives et bordée de trois chapelles. Le large transept est surmonté d'une coupole à la croisée. History
In 1747, the former church having become too small, the construction of a new building is entrusted to the Jesuits and to the Catholics of the city who thus reaffirm their supremacy over the Protestants.
