Historique
Description

History
Château built at the beginning of the 14th century. Outbuildings in a hemicycle surround the main entrance gate. The square tower was re-erected around 1853. Originally, the whole consisted of three towers and two drawbridges which still existed at the time of dismantling during the Revolution. The residence of 1672, preserves an interior of the 19th century, the period when an access staircase to the tower was added.
Description
What strikes one at first sight is the green environment all around the château since the village of Certines. To access the château which was built at the beginning of the 14th century, an avenue of poplars departs from a crossroads adorned with a wayside cross. On an 1808 cadastral plan, one observes that the structure has not moved since that period with semi-circular outbuildings which surround the main entrance gate. The avenue leads to the gate from which one glimpses the square tower re-erected around 1853 but whose base appears very ancient. It is difficult today to identify the three towers and the two drawbridges which still existed at the time of Revolutionary dismantling. The East façade which was represented in an engraving from the beginning of the 19th century informs us of the state of deterioration of the place at that time and of the additions and restorations undertaken subsequently.
