Maison construite à partir de 1785 par Léonard Racle (1736-1791) , ingénieur-architecte-faïencier, appelé à Pont-de-Vaux pour la construction d'un canal. Maison conçue " incombustible, sans bois et voûtée ", dont l'intérêt ne se mesure pas à son aspect extérieur quelque peu massif, mais réside principalement dans sa conception même (structure de voûtes plates parallèles en briques et plâtre sur trois niveaux, surmontées d'un comble entièrement briqueté) et dans la qualité de son décor intérieur (escalier monumental décoré de panneaux en faux-marbre, cheminées d'origine en argile-marbre). History
House built from 1785 by Léonard Racle (1736-1791), engineer-architect-faience maker, called to Pont-de-Vaux for the construction of a canal. House designed "fireproof, without wood and vaulted", whose interest is not measured by its somewhat massive outward appearance, but resides principally in its very conception (structure of flat parallel brick and plaster vaults on three levels, surmounted by a roof entirely of brick) and in the quality of its interior decoration (monumental staircase decorated with false-marble panels, original clay-marble fireplaces). Preserved almost intact in its structures, this house is to this day the unique known realization of this type of learned architecture, "innovative" at the end of the 18th century.
