History
Neo-classical building built by architect Charles Questel, assisted by his student J.-H. Riondel, from 1861 to 1866. The prefecture became operational in January 1867. The building presents a rectangular central body with two wings in return at right angles. While adopting a classical style strongly marked by 17th-century references, Questel implements the most modern techniques by calling upon metal structures for floors and roof structure.
