Château du 11e siècle, remanié au 14e siècle (grande tour carrée de 1314) sous la domination anglaise, puis au début du 15e siècle (1407) quand il entre dans le domaine des comtes de Foix. Utilisation comme place-forte du 14e siècle jusqu'en 1889. Réparations en 1580 et 1616. Sous Louis XV et Napoléon Ier, le château devient une prison. History
Castle from the 11th century, remodelled in the 14th century (great square tower of 1314) under English rule, then in the early 15th century (1407) when it entered the domain of the counts of Foix. Use as a stronghold from the 14th century until 1889. Repairs in 1580 and 1616. Under Louis XV and Napoleon I, the castle became a prison. Extensive works from 1828 to 1856, in accordance with instructions given by Vauban. In 1920, installation of a Pyrenean museum.
