Manufacture fondée en 1665 par Colbert, implantée d'abord à Paris, puis en 1692 près de Laon, dans la forêt de Saint-Gobain, sur les vestiges de la forteresse médiévale des Coucy. History
Manufacture founded in 1665 by Colbert, first established in Paris, then in 1692 near Laon, in the Saint-Gobain forest, on the remains of the medieval fortress of the Coucy. Administration building constructed around 1735, gateway and guardhouse in 1756, the Bel Air in 1772-1773, housing (Maisons Neuves) between 1775 and 1785. Soda mill raised in 1758, then transformed into a sanctuary for the chapel adjoining it in 1787. The industrial buildings date from the late 19th century (1880-1900) and were altered after the First World War.
