Ces deux maisons à portique axial et parois d'aluminium ont été dessinées par le constructeur Jean Prouvé, fruit d'une commande du ministère de la Reconstruction et de l'Urbanisme (Comité interprofessionnel du Logement) et construites à titre expérimental à Tourcoing en 1953, lors de la reconstruction consécutive à la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. History
These two houses with axial portico and aluminium walls were designed by builder Jean Prouvé, resulting from an order from the Ministry of Reconstruction and Urban Planning (Interprofessional Housing Committee) and built on an experimental basis in Tourcoing in 1953, during the reconstruction following the Second World War. One of these houses was destroyed by fire in September 1996, and the other lost its period furnishings, also designed by Prouvé. They are protected as witnesses to post-war research on social housing and on modular and economical housing. The house that burned was rebuilt and inaugurated in July 1999.
